Franklin Delano Roosevelt, commonly known as FDR, was the 32nd American president. Roosevelt served from 1933 until his death in 1945. Famously the longest-serving U.S. president, Roosevelt is the only one to have served more than two terms. Roosevelt's first two terms were centred on battling the Great Depression, while his third and fourth saw him shift his energy to America's participation in World War II.
