Funny Chinese Poem - Lion-Eating Poet Poster

Amusing Chinese poster featuring traditional Chinese characters. The text - read from top to bottom, right to left - is a poem by Yuen Ren Chao called "The Lion-Eating Poet in the Stone Den". The title is displayed in large Chinese symbols across the top (read left to right). When there were rumours of the Chinese language being changed to trash the pictographic characters in favour of the alphabet we use in the West, Yuen Ren Chao wrote this poem to show how foolish that idea would be - every single Chinese character in this poster is pronounced, "Shi". Needless to say, they kept their beautiful old symbols, and you can enjoy them too - and now you know you can even read this poster, because it's just as easy as saying "Shi". He often went to the market to look for lions. At ten o'clock, ten lions had just arrived at the market. At that time, Shi had just arrived at the market. He saw those ten lions, and using his trusty arrows, caused the ten lions to die. He brought the corpses of the ten lions to the stone den. The stone den was damp. He asked his servants to wipe it.
