Galatea by French Painter Anne Louis Girodet-Trioson (1767 - 1824); who was a student of Jacques-Louis David, was part of the early Romantic Movement, and is noted for his clear and precise style and for the paintings of the Napoleonic family. This is a bust height portrait of the mythological story of Pygmalion and Galatee (when the Goddess Aphrodite turns Pygmalion's female statue that he has fallen in love with, into a living being), after she has transitioned from being an ivory statue into a living human woman.
