    The Grand Canal, Venice (1898/1899) by Maurice Prendergast is a vintage post impressionism fine art watercolor maritime painting. Houses and homes with traditional Italian architecture along the Venetian canal. A seascape featuring a the famous canals and a cityscape in Venice, Italy. Crowds of people are walking by the waterfront, beautiful old fashioned lampposts and benches line the walkway. There are gondolas in the water with gondoliers and couples in love. The boats and buildings are casting reflections in the water. About the artist: Maurice Brazil Prendergast (1858-1924) was an American Post Impressionist artist who worked in oil, watercolor, and monotype. The style of his art had a mosaic like beauty.
