Grand Union Flag of the United States of America Tie

The Grand Union Flag (also known as the "Continental Colors", the "Congress Flag" or the "Cambridge Flag") is considered to be the very first national flag of the United States of America. For this reason, it is of great historical importance. Like the current United States flag, the Grand Union Flag has 13 alternating stripes of red and white, which are intended to represent the original Thirteen Colonies. However, the top-left corner, technically known as the canton, features the flag of the Kingdom of Great Britain, which was the ruling power at the time. It is widely believed that the Grand Union Flag was raised by George Washington's army on New Year's Day, 1776. Still today, it is often flown as a symbol of American national pride and patriotism.
