Traditional legends say the stripes represent the number of syllables (nine) in the Greek words for FREEDOM OR DEATH. Others say they represent the letters in the Greek word for FREEDOM. Others suggest that each stripe represents one of the nine Muses of mythology. The blue and white colours are suggested to represent the colours of the Greek sea and sky. Either way, it makes for a beautiful flag that will always look nice anywhere you take it.
