About This Design
H. G. Wells War of the Worlds Poster No. 2
Titled “A Martian War-Machine is Destroyed by a Hit from a Shell” this is number two in a series of posters based on the illustrations by Brazilian artist Henrique Alvim-Corrêa from the very rare 1906 Belgian/French edition of H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds (La guerre des mondes). Alvim-Corrêa had a unique take on the Martian war machines with each seeming to have an individual personality. Great Sci-Fi and Steampunk stuff here.
