“Conversation on the Avenue”, 1892, by Childe Hassam, Oil on Board.
Frederick Childe Hassam, 1859-1935, known to all as simply ‘Childe’, was a pioneer of American Impressionism and perhaps the most devoted, prolific, and successful practitioner. He caught the spirit of the new painting in Paris in the late 1880’s while most of his compatriots were still ignoring it. He contributed to the full flowering of American Impressionism in the United States in the 1890’s and rode the great wave of enthusiasm for the style to fame and fortune.
Specialising in genteel New York street scenes and bucolic New England landscapes, Hassam epitomised that response. He was a distinctive and complex artist and had a fifty-year career of ceaseless activity.

Looked great and was perfect for my Nana's 99th it arrived super quick so much quicker than sending the original from the other side of the world! This was used as a Mother's Day card and my mother absolutely loved it! The artwork and attention to detail is stunning. It's as if the hare could jump right out of the card at any moment. The print quality and colours are of a very high standard and show the beautiful hare in commendable detail.
