Hestia Goddess Ornament

Hestia, Greek Goddess of the Hearth. One of the things that would have made Hestia unique as a Goddess in ancient Greece is that her altars were not public ones - apparently she really had no large public temples - but nearly every household had a private altar space dedicated to her in their homes. Her realm was the behind-the-scenes arena of the home; she blessed the food, heard the arguments, saw the messes. That's an intimate relationship! The sound of the crackling of a hearth fire was said to be Hestia laughing. Hestia’s sankalpa affirmation is, “My hearth is a divine abode.”
