Horace Greeley Poster

Horace Greeley, born on February 3, 1811, in Amherst, New Hampshire, was a prominent American newspaper editor, publisher, and political figure. Greeley grew up on a farm, and despite limited formal education, he developed a passion for reading and writing. In 1831, he moved to New York City, where he worked for various newspapers before founding his own publication, the "New-Yorker," in 1834. Greeley's editorial voice and writing style appealed to a broad readership. In 1841, Greeley co-founded the "Tribune," a newspaper that would become one of the most influential in the United States. The New York Tribune, under Greeley's editorial direction, covered a range of topics, including politics, social reform, and agriculture. Greeley was an advocate for various social causes, including the abolition of slavery, labor rights, and the establishment of the cooperative movement. Greeley's influence extended beyond journalism into politics. In 1848, he became involved in the Free Soil Party and ran as its candidate for president. Later, he became a prominent figure in the Republican Party, supporting Abraham Lincoln's candidacy in 1860. During the Civil War, Greeley used the New York Tribune to promote the Union cause. One of Greeley's most challenging moments came in 1872 when he ran for the presidency as both a Liberal Republican and Democratic candidate against incumbent President Ulysses S. Grant. Despite his earlier support for social reforms, Greeley faced personal and political setbacks during the campaign. He suffered a resounding defeat and, sadly, experienced the death of his wife shortly after the election. Horace Greeley died on November 29, 1872, just weeks after the election, marking the end of a significant era in American journalism and politics.

I like the design features on the website. They enable the fitting of a good quality Print to an existing frame. This Print was of excellent quality. I would buy again. One small gripe is that the image was not centred horizontally (about 3mm out) so needed trimming. No great hardship and may have been my fault in the setting-up. Next time, I would choose to set the text below the picture to a smaller font. Overall - Thank You! Looks good in its frame - Just as expected. I had a very expensive Gallery print of this before. It got damaged - hence the replacement. It compares very well.
