Igreja de São João Batista Trancoso Bahia Postcard

Localizado no sul do estado da Bahia, originou-se de uma aldeia Jesuíta denominada São João Batista dos Índios, fundada em 1586. Foi redescoberto no fim dos anos 70 por um grupo de hippies. Na época, era só um conjunto de casas de cada lado de um grande gramado com uma igreja ao fundo, de onde se vê o mar. Hoje, esse espaço, que é a praça São João no centro histórico de Trancoso, é chamado "Quadrado". A partir da década de 90, com o incremento do turismo no estado, e a construção de estradas e aeroportos, o potencial turístico da região sofreu um crescimento vertiginoso.
