International Nurses Day Thank You Card

Show your support for the nurses who daily offer care and comfort to the sick and dying with a National Nurses Week card! International Nurses Day is celebrated annually on May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale (1820-1910), the founder of modern nursing. + The lamp is an internationally recognised symbol for nursing. Nightingale became known as "the Lady with a Lamp" for making her solitary rounds through the wards of wounded soldiers during the Crimean War late at night. While a British war correspondent first described Nightingale in the press making such rounds, it was the American writer Henry Wadsworth Longfellow quoted here who popularised the image in his poem “Santa Filomena” which appeared in the first issue of The Atlantic Monthly in November 1857.
