While vacationing in Japan, China and Vietnam I became fascinated with the modern wood block prints, batik, and papercuts we saw in the art galleries, as well as displayed on every day items such as curtains and fabrics. The stark black silhouettes juxtaposed against vibrant and rich colours, were like a beautiful dance to me. I have been obsessed with this style of art ever since. I am in love with the medium of paper cutting because it gives me so much freedom to create "on the fly" as well as combining so many of my artistic skills I have learned over the years...I have found myself lured back into this "wood block" style once again. My handmade papers stored away for years from our travels have found new life!!
