Iznachi Sanctuary Notecard
Spread the word about the Andean Bear Foundation’s new Andean bear sanctuary with these notecards featuring the logo of the Iznachi Andean bear Sanctuary. "Iznachi" is the word used by the Quijos people for the Andean bear, also known as the spectacled bear. The sanctuary site is in the Cantón of Quijos, in Napo Province in Ecuador. The drawing of an Andean bear mother and cub is by Toby Shephard, a young New Zealand artist who volunteered with the Andean Bear Project in Ecuador in early 2011. Toby drew the bears as a rough plan for a mural, but we loved the sketch so much that we decided to use it as the logo for our new bear sanctuary. Toby describes himself as “a member of the bio-community” and when asked for a few words about himself, responded that we should always remember “it’s the bear necessities, those simple bear necessities, forget about your worries or your strife”. Your purchase of this item will help the Andean Bear Foundation provide the bear necessities for Andean bears in need of our help. Many thanks to Toby for the sketch and to Rebecca Hamilton for design.
