Perfect Poster made from an oil painting by French Orientalist painter Jean-Léon Gérôme, titled Black Bashi-Bazouk. The model is dressed in textiles that Gérôme brought home from a twelve-week expedition to the Near East. The Turkish title means 'headless', referring to the soldiers of the Ottoman empire that fought without pay, just for plunder, but it is difficult to imagine someone charging into battle wearing this silk tunic.
