Image Credit (SAU 21): Antique NeoGothic image of Jesus entitled Ecce Homo (Behold the Man) by Baron Jean-Baptiste Bethune (1821-1894) from a loose page probably from a prayer book printed in chromolithography with gilt accents and published by the Socièté de St. Augustin, Bruges, Belgium, n.d. but probably c. 1892, late 19th century. From the designer’s private collection of religious ephemera. + The quote beneath the image is from Isaiah53:4. “Vere languores nostros ipse tulit et dolores nostros ipse portavit” which translates as “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows” (ASV – American Standard Version).
