Joan of Arc: The Maid of Orleans, Knight Heroine Shot Glass
The WWI poster featuring Joan of Arc was a powerful piece of propaganda designed to galvanise American women into supporting the war effort. The image of Joan of Arc, a legendary French heroine who led her country to victory against the English, was strategically chosen to inspire patriotism and a sense of duty. The poster's message, "Women of America, save your country--Buy War Savings Stamps," directly appealed to women's sense of national pride and their ability to contribute to the war effort, even from home. - The poster's connection to Joan of Arc's life story further amplified its impact. Joan of Arc, a young peasant girl from rural France, claimed to have received divine visions that called her to lead the French army in the Hundred Years' War. Despite initial scepticism, her unwavering faith and military prowess led to significant victories against the English. Her story resonated with Americans, particularly women, as it embodied courage, determination, and a belief in a higher purpose. By aligning the purchase of War Savings Stamps with Joan of Arc's heroic actions, the poster suggested that women could play a vital role in securing victory for their country. - The poster's success can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, it tapped into the widespread admiration for Joan of Arc, whose story had been popularised through literature, art, and historical accounts. Secondly, it effectively utilised the powerful imagery of a strong, determined woman leading a nation to victory. Thirdly, it offered a tangible way for women to contribute to the war effort, even if they were unable to serve on the front lines. By purchasing War Savings Stamps, women could feel empowered and connected to the larger cause. - The WWI Joan of Arc poster remains a significant piece of American history, illustrating the power of propaganda and the role of women in wartime. It serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals during World War I and the enduring legacy of Joan of Arc as a symbol of courage and patriotism. - This work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 80 years or fewer. - This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1929.

Awful. They both arrived broken. Packaging was poor. Terrible with lines going through the image.

It is nice to be able get shot glasses with the names of places you have been too but didn’t manage to get a glass why you were there. Also the option of creating your own place souvenir by using a glass with the national flag or map and adding a place name that would never normally be credited with its own souvenir is good.
The only thing I am not so keen on is the size of the glass. They are larger than your average European shot glass by a third so take up more space in the display shelving and requires the shelves to be further apart.
The service is quick and the items usually arrive in the UK in about a week.
