"Join or Die" is a famous Revolutionary War political cartoon in the form of a flag, created by Benjamin Franklin and first published in his Pennsylvania Gazette on May 9, 1754. It is a woodcut showing a snake cut into 8 parts, with each segment labelled with the initials of a British American colony or region. The cartoon became a symbol of colonial freedom and liberty during the American Revolution and is often seen at Tea Party rallies today.
