KC-135, Stratotanker, Refueling Aircraft

The KC-135 Stratotanker is a military aerial refueling aircraft developed by Boeing and used primarily by the United States Air Force. Introduced in the late 1950s, the KC-135 has been a critical component of U.S. air power, allowing fighter jets, bombers, and other aircraft to extend their range and loiter time by refueling mid-air. Based on the Boeing 707 commercial airliner, the KC-135 can carry tens of thousands of gallons of fuel and transfer it to receiving aircraft via a boom or drogue system. In addition to refueling, the KC-135 has been adapted for various other roles, including cargo and personnel transport, medical evacuation, and reconnaissance. Despite its age, the KC-135 continues to serve as a backbone of global air operations due to continuous upgrades and maintenance.
