The Masai Mara National Reserve, located in southwestern Kenya, is one of Africa’s most iconic and wildlife-rich conservation areas. Spanning about 1,500 square kilometres, the reserve is part of the greater Mara-Serengeti ecosystem and is named after the Maasai people who have lived in the region for centuries. The landscape is a classic African savanna—rolling grasslands dotted with acacia trees, meandering rivers, and open plains that stretch to the horizon. This spectacle, typically occurring between July and October, is considered one of the greatest natural events on Earth.
