The kids, who I babysit, love this project! They LOVE decorating the box house! In fact, several times, the child asked me to print it out, so that they could decorate them. Even using printer paper! Very inexpensive craft for kids, and adults! And, it can be decorated on both sides, exterior and interior! Just go to town designing in 2D! I LOVED making houses when I was little, which is why I studied interior design in college! This is a great project to build home decorating skills, and I hope to really expand on this concept, by adding other home design printables for kids. I'd like to add "real" home design, but brought to kids at their age appropriate levels, to help them understand structure, the needs of what it takes to make a house be designed well, with the decorating skills as icing on the cake! Now, your child may ask you to cut the box pattern out, but they can, with adult supervision. Just go around the outer lines, fold in the tabs, glue / connect the tabs inside. You can redesign the rectangle handles on top that I have, you won't hurt my feelings. Just make sure that it's well connected, taped, and secure. Otherwise, I do not condone putting anything valuable inside these boxes. If kids want to design little, tiny pieces of furniture or interior pieces, or outdoor pieces that they made, and attach it they can!
