Kitchen Towel - Pink Anthurium Twins

It's amazing to consider that an average of 12 million anthurium stems are shipped annually from Hawaii. That's a million a month; roughly 250,000 per week. These open, heart-shaped flowers of tropical origin are also known as "flamingo flowers", "boy flowers", "painted tongues" and "painter's palettes" and symbolise hospitality. These exotic blooms are also thought to bring luck and protect against evil. Some "old wives' tales" say that when the flower closes, it means rain is coming. Mythology, however, tells us that the petals close at sunset in order to provide sleeping quarters for magical fairies. These fairies, in turn, enchant the flowers which is why they are so long lasting. Generally speaking, anthuriums symbolise hospitality and mean "intense attraction from the heart". The pink anthurium, specifically, stands for grace and youthfulness. These dramatic blooms add a lovely element to this terrific kitchen towel which is illustrated in a "folded in half" orientation since I m forever draping mine across the oven handle.
