I paint intuitively. I get lost with my music and my art supplies. I work with just a few colors, and time passes without notice. The final composition is often a surprise.
My inspiration comes from the beauty of nature: the formation of clouds at sunrise and sunset; the shapes and colors in flowers and foliage; the majesty of mountains; the drama in the shadows; the flight of birds and butterflies, and the presence of both peace and power in water.
There is a whimsical side to my art, too in my mixed media girls with inspirational messages for women. My “Caity’s Girls” series is in memory of a young woman full of life until it unexpectedly and tragically ended. Caity's big, sparkly eyes, love of flora and fauna, overwhelming good nature and kind heart are depicted in these creations...a tribute to this remarkable young woman who serves as a reminder to me to live life fully, every day.
Using alcohol ink, acrylic paint, encaustic wax, pebeo and resin, I am able to articulate my appreciation for ordinary aspects of life which would otherwise be taken for granted.
