A polar bear roams the ice during the long polar night; the Northern Lights in red and green glow in the distance. Inuktitut text reading "Kuvianak Innovia" (Merry Christmas), in the syllabic alphabet adopted in Nunavut, also appears in glowing blue and white. The Inuit are commonly referred to as Eskimo, but that term is now disfavored as it is considered to be pejorative.
