Although Gauguin may be known more for his artwork of Tahitian women, he created this pretty work in 1890, depicting a coastal village in France. It has lots of depth. When viewed, the eye passes through different shapes and various colours until meeting up with blue in the back. Whether that blue is all sky, or mostly sky and some water is hard to say.
