We all know the iconic portrait of Abraham Lincoln taken in 1863. In that photo, he looks very presidential and stoic. Compare that photo to this one that was captured moments before. The rumour is that Abraham Lincoln, who had a very self deprecating sense of humour, began to laugh right before the picture was taken because of a joke the photographer had made. Abraham Lincoln was posing for the photo when he asked the photographer if he would look better from the left side or the right side. The photographer responded, "I'm afraid in this situation Mr. President, that is a lose-lose proposition." It is said that Lincoln laughed uncontrollably for several minutes, which was when the satirical picture was taken.
