Lehua is the flower of the Ohia tree and is an important flower for ancient Hawaiians and very significant today. The lehua and the liko lehua exhibit brilliant colour, scent and symbolises strength. There are several varieties including the popular red lehua and the yellow lehua. Liko are the young leaves of the ohia tree and are used in haku (head) leis and wreathes along with the pua (flower) lehua.
