Louisiana Fresh Purple Hull Peas Travel Postcard

No matter where we go or what we do, we can never forget where we came from. Some of my earliest memories are of my grandparent's vegetable fields. Their motto was, "If you can carry it, you can take it home." So we'd all carry 5 gallon buckets and fill them up with peas. We'd carry them home and pour them onto sheets on the living room floor, and shell them all by hand. There's nothing quite like fresh Louisiana purple hull peas. Photo taken by me (KellyL) as my son got to shell peas with us for the first time... and the first time in a very long time for myself.
