Luxor is one of the most popular destinations in Egypt. It is a city of temples and tombs. One of the most famous monuments of Luxor is Sphinx Avenue, which starts at the entrance to the temple of Karnak. The avenue has sphinxes on either side and leads to Luxor Temple, which is located at the eastern end of the avenue. The Avenue was built by Pharaoh Amenhotep III. It was originally broad with sandstone statues lining it on both sides, but today only one row remains near its western end.
