Madonna and Child Enthroned Jean Fouquet Holiday Postcard

Madonna and Child Enthroned Jean Fouquet Holiday Postcard

Painted before 1455 by Jean Fouquet (c. 1420–1481) My circa 13 great grandfather. Early French Renaissance Period Court Painter to Kings Charles VII and Louis XI. Contemporary of Saint Joan of Arc. Madonna and Child Enthroned. MERRY CHRISTMAS www.zazzle.com/markewesterfield 2024 A MERRY CHRISTMAS 2024 omg ... a painting of Mary with long blonde hair ... She reminds me of my sister Marla! Jean Fouquet lived when Saint Joan of Arc was still living. They both served under King Charles VII, but not at the same time. Joan of Arc served to help King Charles VII get his coronation which she attended before she was burnt at the stake by the English court in Rouen, Normandy, France, May 30, 1431 ... perhaps about 24 years before Jean Fouquet painted this Madonna and Child for the Court of King Charles VII. But, Jean Fouquet lived near where Joan of Arc would have ridden to and from the court of Charles VII and could have seen her before her death. In fact, a movie about Jean Fouquet even included a scene of Jean Fouquet as a boy watching Joan of Arc riding by. Jean Fouquet was one of the earliest French painters to travel to Florence, Italy, to study Early Italian Renaissance Period Art, even before the birth of Leonardo da Vinci. I wish that I knew Fouquet was my ancestor when I was taking Art History classes at Illinois State University (1970 - 1973) and at Illinois Central College (2004 - 2005). My teachers would have freaked!
