Authentic news stories about American Mah Jongg Fictional magazine covers based on real news stories. Mah Jongg was imported into America starting in the 1920s and was quickly a huge sensation. During WWII, Mah Jongg parties were held to raise funds for war relief. Twenty years later in 1964, the game enjoyed renewed appeal. It was still being played at the Brighton Beach club in 1984. In 2004 it was hip again and remains immensely popular to this day.
