Mantra to Shakyamuni Buddha Postcard

Om muni muni mahamuni shakyamuni svaha. Shakyamuni (the sage of the Shakyan clan) is the historical Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama. This form has the name of Shakyamuni in the dative form, so that it reads “Om wise one, wise one, great wise one, to the wise one of the Shakyans hail!” This mantra is often repeated not just as a sign of respect and acknowledgement of the Buddha but also as a means of entreating the Buddha to help you find the inspiration that you need to follow in order to attain full enlightenment. As you chant this mantra, visualise millions of golden light rays emanating from the Buddha’s holy body and entering your body through the crown of your head. This brings you a mountain of blessings that purifies eons of negative karma; removes obstructions, and hindrances; allowing to progress swiftly on the right path towards enlightenment. The mantra can be recited daily or when individuals are seeking the inspiration needed to transform a negative and stressful state into one that is filled with peace and happiness.. (chant one mala – 108 times a day) Like many mantras, the Shakyamuni Buddha mantra can be said on your own behalf or even on the behalf of someone else you are thinking of, as you are wishing for them the inspiration and strength that they need to transform their negativeness into a pathway of positivity on the journey of enlightenment. This is the more common form of the mantra in Sanskrit, although in Tibetan the mantra is in the “Tibeticized” version of the shorter form given above: Om muni muni maha muni shakyamuni soha – “soha” being the Tibetan rendering of “svaha.”
