Advocating for the health and wellbeing of all mothers and babies.
United States
The March for Moms is about ensuring that all American families are adequately supported during pregnancy, birth, and parenting. This means access to good care, fair treatment, and reasonable leave from work. We are citizens calling attention to the deeply concerning state of family health in the United States. We proudly stand beside the diverse American families who are doing the difficult and rewarding work of nurturing our future generations. Many of us are maternity care experts who represent a diverse field of health professionals. We know first-hand the urgent need to improve care for moms and babies. Join us on the National Mall in Washington DC on Mother's Day, May 14, 2017, as we march for American families. We’ve identified seven key issues that are contributing to poor maternal-child health in our country. These include: 1. A surge in the rate of premature births, unmatched in the last eight years 2. Serious health inequities and disparities in African-American and other marginalized populations 3. A profound lack of early, universal access to healthcare, including prenatal care 4. A rising maternal mortality worse than any other developed nation 5. Increasing evidence of a maternity care provider workforce shortage 6. An epidemic of maternal workplace stress and depression before, during and after pregnancy 7. Lack of addressing the need for parental leave We are a grassroots coalition with intent to seek national attention by investing in and supporting moms. We are not representing interests of any singular professional group, entity, or association. Rather, we are representing consumers and health providers to voice a shared platform, demanding national dialogue to improve care for mothers and babies. We can assure that 100% of our donations we receive are directly applied to managing the costs of holding the MarchforMoms on the DC Mall, Mother’s Day, 2017.
