Marie-Antoinette de Lorraine-Habsbourg, Queen of France, and her children, 1787, Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun. Oil on canvas, 271 x 195 cm. Versailles, Mars Salon. Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun (Marie Élisabeth Louise; 16 April 1755 – 30 March 1842) was a French painter, and is recognised as the most famous female painter of the 18th century. Her style is generally considered Rococo and shows interest in the subject of neoclassical painting. Vigée Le Brun was portrait painter to Marie Antoinette, queen of France.
