The Maunga (mountain) design was formulated to honour our tīpuna maunga (ancestral mountains) throughout Aotearoa (New Zealand) and the world. Acknowledging the mountain of your tribe is one of the cornerstones of Maori identity and links us by whakapapa (genealogy) to the land we call home. Mangopare (hammerhead shark) designs were used to signify the strength provided by our connections to our maunga (mountains) and our tīpuna (ancestors) that have gone before us. Koru (spirals) are used to represent the growth of the new generations. These tees can be customised with the name of your own maunga (mountain) for a truly unique statement piece.
