Men on the Beach (Dangerous Work at Low Tide) Jigsaw Puzzle

This design features artwork by the British painter Eric William Ravilious (1903–1942). The painting shows a group of naval officers during the Second World War who are in the process of defusing a German magnetic mine. They are on a beach near the oyster beds at Whitstable, Kent, England. There are tidal pools across the landscape. The sun is low on the horizon in a bright blue sky. It is a scene of great beauty, but, of course, the naval officers were putting themselves in danger by doing their vital work. The original painting was completed in 1940.
