MERRY MYTHMAS! - T-Shirt

Few people realise that December 25 is the day when our sun ends winter and is "reborn". This is the ancient origin of Christmas and the "reason for the season". It begins on on Dec. 23—the first day of the winter solstice. On the 3rd day, Dec. 25, the sun stops descending lower in the sky and finally begins it ascension. Now the days get longer and lighter. This is the joyous day when the sun—not a son—brings everyone the promise of light and replenishment. It was a huge celebration in the ancient word. The sun was worshipped for being born on Dec. 25. The Romans named their sun-god "Sol". The word "Sol+stice" means "Sol"+"stands still". In fact, our early ancestors believed the sun was dead for the 3 days of the solstice and that it rose on the 3rd day, Dec. 25. It amazes me that thousands of years later, we still celebrate the exact same event: The rebirth of our natural SUN; not the birth of a supernatural SON.
