This design hosts in its middle area a drawing of exquisite beauty and artistic mastery, made by non other than the great Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475 – 1564). The drawing depicts the head of a woman, traditionally identified as Cleopatra with a snake encircling her breast and fastening its venomous bite on the left nipple. The background is pastel yellow with stains, made to mach the old paper the drawing is made on.
