Amedeo Clemente Modigliani was an Italian painter and sculptor who worked mainly in France. He is known for portraits in a modern style chraacterised by elongation of faces and figures. In 1906, Modigliani moved to Paris, then the focal point of the avant-garde.
The 1915 painting features a girl in a turquoise dress, sitting in front of a dark green wall.
