This picturesque river scene was painted by Claude Monet in 1875, shortly after he moved his family to Argenteuil, a small village on the Seine River near Paris. The river appears rather full with so many sailboats. Monet named the painting simply "Argenteuil", as that was the nearby village located just outside Paris, France.
