Monte Albán is an ancient Zapotec ceremonial centre dramatically situated on a flattened mountaintop overlooking the Oaxaca Valley in southern Mexico. Its monumental plazas, pyramids, terraces, and carved stone monuments make it one of the most recognisable archaeological sites in Mesoamerica.
