Archangel cathedral and Ivan the Great bell tower. The Cathedral of the Archangel is dedicated to the Archangel Michael. It was constructed between 1505 and 1508 under supervision of an Italian architect Aloisio the New (the real name is not known for sure). Victories of the Russian military were celebrated in the Cathedral of the Archangel. Over the years the Archangel Cathedral has undergone several changes that have altered its initial appearance. Ivan the Great bell tower is 81 metres (266 ft) tall. It was built in 1508 for the Kremlin cathedrals, which do not have their own belfries. Ivan the Great Bell Tower has 22 bells. Two large bells are the 19.6-tonne Reut and the 16.6-tonne Daily. First Unnamed tower of the Kremlin can be seen in the centre of the scene.
