Mug Restaurant Shikian

This print by Kubo Shunman (not Utamaro) shows a reception at the Shikian restaurant (the "Four Seasons" restaurant, one of the most renowned and exclusive in Edo), circa 1786. This print is held at the British Museum, and the correction of the attribution to Kubo Shunman (1757 - 1820) comes from the information on the British Museum's website. The couple sitting on the right are playing "Catch the Fox!" (kitsume ken), a game that resembles "rock, paper, scissors" a bit. Next to them, two geishas are tuning their shamisen and preparing to play.
