Native American antique Hopi Kachina dolls faux canvas print. This restored vintage image comes from Dolls Of The Tusayan Indians by Jesse Walter Fewkes, originally published in 1894. A kachina is a totemic sacred being in the spiritual belief traditions of the indigenous Pueblo peoples, Native American cultures situated in the southwestern region of the United States. In the Puebloan cultures, kachina rituals are practiced by the Hopi, Hopi-Tewa and Zuni tribal peoples and some Keresan tribes, as well as in most Puebloan New Mexico tribes. The kachina phenomenon has three different parts: the celestial or supernatural spirit, the kachina dancers, and kachina dolls.
