Nehaj Castle - Senj Postcard
Nehaj Castle, Senj, Croatia Senj (Italian: Segna, Latin: Senia, German and Hungarian: Zengg) is small town in the Dalmatian coast. Its symbol is the Nehaj Castle built by captain Ivan Lankovic outside of the city walls. It was built using the the houses, churches and monasteries situated outside of the walls in 1558. The castle is 18 metres tall, the walls are 2-3 metres thick. They housed the kitchen and the soldiers rooms. The officers lived on the first floor. The second floor held eleven heavy cannons. The plateau situated on the top is a viewpoint. It served to control the surrounding roads.
