A very rare, late nineteenth century cabinet card, albumen photograph of a Pattern Maker's shop featuring a massive Water Wheel in the background to drive the belt driven Pattern Makers machines. Pattern molds for heavy steam engine parts can be seen around the shop as well as a period bicycle, electric lights, woodworking tools and Pattern Makers at their work benches. From the collection of Gary Roberts, publisher of The Toolemera Press, republisher of classic books, photographs and prints of early crafts, trades and industries.
