It is also found in southern Arizona and New Mexico as well as much of Mexico. The artwork was painted by French ornithologist, birder, naturalist and artist, John James Audubon. The Northern Cardinal is a common, yet beautiful bird throughout it's range, and is a favourite visitor to backyard birdfeeders.
