Old and New Buildings Downtown Vieux Hull Postcard

This is a mix of old and new architecture in Vieux Hull (Old Hull), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. The glass tower has been added to the historic building beside it. The building is the Chez Henri, built in 1929. It's an area landmark often known simply as the Chez. It's been a grand hotel, a hotel bar, live music venue and disco among other things. The building had been falling into ruin, but was rescued by the city and turned into a heritage site. It's now greatly modernised but some of the old details are still there. The brick facade is fairly new, replacing the old wall which was constantly throwing bricks at people. Some of the Chez Henri has been turned into a tourist restaurant. The two red brick buildings to right and left are both bars. This is a pedestrian area courtyard known as Place Aubry or simply the Bar District, along with surrounding streets.
