Sopron is a city in Hungary on the Austrian border, near Lake Neusiedl/ Lake Fertő. It's a significant wine producing regions and is one of the few regions in Hungary to make both red and white wines. The architecture of the old section of town is a reflection of its long history: walls and foundations from the Roman era are commonplace, Mediaeval, Renaissance, and Baroque structures, a synagogue and remnants from a Jewish community which was expelled in the 16th century.
