A certain level of grunginess is perfectly normal for a dragon. Dragons are suspicious of excessive cleanliness, and resentful when their humans interfere with the development of their natural patina. For the happiness and safety of everyone concerned, therefore, we recommend that you wash your dragon no more than once in six months or so, using baby shampoo and warm water. A quick rinse from a garden hose will help flush out any grit or small mammals that may have accumulated under the edges of the scales. Pat dry. In between baths, an occasional light application of unscented hand lotion or extra virgin olive oil will relieve any uncomfortable dryness.
